Lama Gursam began his religious training at the Drikung Monastery at Tso Pema in India. In 1990, he graduated with a Master’s degree in advanced Buddhist philosophy from the Central Institute of Higher Tibetan Studies (University) in Sarnath, Varnasi, India. Upon graduation, Lama Gursam also received a special award from His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He has taught at the main Drikung monastery in Dehra Dun, India, and in 2002, he completed a three year retreat under the guidance of H.E. Garchen Rinpoche. He spends 6 months a year teaching in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and the rest of the year in India, in retreat. Lama has done retreat in Milarepa's cave at Lapchi twice. He is the founder of the Bodhichitta Foundation, a 501(c)3 charitable organization in the United States and Canada.
There will be a public talk on The Great Prayer of Tibet: A teaching on the meaning of the Six Syllable Mantra OM MANI PADME HUM. There will be Medicine Buddha Empowerment and teachings and practice on the Medicine Buddha.
