SECRETS of the HEART
An experiential seminar with

Henry Cretella, M.D. and Kathleen FitzPatrick, Senior Teachers
Art of Healing Foundation and Sufi Order International
Sponsored by:  Sufi Order of Rochester, Art of Healing Foundation and Amber Light Intl.

Mystics aspire to a direct and heartfelt connection with the power and meaning at the core of our universe, often but not necessarily referred to as God. There are many seemingly different paths which lead us toward this connection, but in their essence, they eventually direct us to a common thread of wisdom beneath this diversity.  Opening the heart is central to finding this core wisdom and connecting to that which gives meaning to our lives.
Come and explore this mystery.  We start with our concepts of the physical heart, feel the heart as the seat of our emotions and the depth of our mind, and begin to realize its centrality in our spiritual lives.  Without our conscious effort, the heart naturally evolves in all these areas.  With experience and intent however, the secrets within it unfurl more quickly and deeply, informing not only our lives, but all of human experience and evolution. Modern psychology, philosophy and physics echo this mystical view of the gradual evolution of humanity and consciousness toward a deeper connection and meaning among us and with nature.
We will work with mystical practices, meditation, discussion and sharing to experience and deepen our awareness of this central aspect of our humanness.  This seminar is suitable for anyone interested in healing, the healing arts, and spirituality in general.

This seminar is based on the second volume of the Dynamics of Healing series, The Secrets of the Heart, edited by Henry Cretella, M.D. and Devi Tide, and published through the Art of Healing Foundation. This series excerpts the teachings of three modern Sufi leaders, Pir-O- Murshid Inayat Khan, Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, and Pir Zia Inayat Khan. The Art of Healing Foundation is committed to promoting the knowledge and experience of the universal wisdom tradition represented by ancient and modern Sufi teachers as it relates to modern spiritual healing.   It integrates historical and present day findings into a holistic framework suitable for our time and cutting across names and traditions.  Secrets of the Heart may be purchased or ordered through Henry Cretella, cash or checks for $18 to Art of Healing Foundation.

Henry Cretella, M.D. is a senior teacher in the Art of Healing Foundation, Sufi Healing Order and Sufi Order International as well as an ordained minister in the Universal Worship and Sufi Healing Order.  He is active in the Sufi Order of Rochester, co-founder and co-director of Amber Light International and a practicing psychiatrist.  In addition to his studies and practice of psychiatry and Sufism, he also has studied esoteric Buddhism, Nature Awareness, Martial Arts and Chi Gung, mind body medicine with James Gordon, M.D. and others, and has co-produced two CDs of chants and songs with Kathleen FitzPatrick and the help of professional musicians, Hu Dost.   Dr. Cretella aspires to integrate knowledge and experience from a variety of traditions and disciplines in a practical way, one which emphasizes the common thread of wisdom found throughout each and which brings greater meaning to our modern, everyday life.

Kathleen FitzPatrick, LCSW is a longtime Sufi initiate, guide, retreat guide, senior teacher in the Sufi Healing Order, Art of Healing Foundation and Sufi Order International, Raphaelite practitioner and Minister of the Universal Worship.  With Henry, she serves as a Regional Representative of the Sufi Order International and is a member of the Board for the Sufi Healing Order.  Kathleen is interested in sharing the message of spiritual liberty far and wide.
